Twitter
What's 'Twitter' all about? With the recent publicity from the likes of Phillip Schofield, Jonathan Ross and Chris Moyles, the world has all gone 'Twittering'.
www.twitter.com is what's known as a 'microblogging' website, it allows people to make simple text updates to their status eg. 'I'm at the shops' 'Just waiting for a train' - yes, it can be that mundain. But if you undertstand it, it becomes a very useful tool for advice, friendship and getting the word out, across the globe, quickly.
Milk UK have had their Twitter account since late 2008. We've fed our twitterings with among other things, news stories from the BBC Health, talking about breastfeeding, and also by scraping the internet, looking for anyone writing about breastfeeding.
You'll see these 'tweets' below. Although not all relevant to our group, our 1000 odd Twitterings have so far attracted just under 2500 'followers' globally. Growing daily. Follow us yourselves: visit www.twitter.com/milkuk and sign up for an account, it's free.
